AI at work: 40 numbers for 2027 planning (sources dated Oct–Nov 2026)

By Abdulloh Akhmedov, Founder & CEO, Renvel AI · Published · 5 min read

The key numbers on AI use, results, spend, agents and hiring. All from sources published 5 Oct to 4 Nov 2026. Plus our own scan of public posts and job ads. Method and dates included.

Short answer: companies are spending more on AI than ever, but few see strong results. Only 13% of IT chiefs say AI gave significant value (Gartner, 19 Oct 2026). Spend hit $177B, 5.4 times last year (Menlo, 3 Nov 2026). The gap is setup, not spend.

How we built this page

  • Window: every number comes from a source published between 5 Oct and 4 Nov 2026. Older items are marked "background".
  • Sources: published surveys and reports, company announcements, and public posts on X, LinkedIn and Reddit.
  • Our own numbers: a scan of about 10,700 public posts on X and LinkedIn, plus job listings, 5 Oct – 4 Nov 2026. We kept 552 that showed live intent (hiring, funding, building agents, or asking for help). We also asked ChatGPT four buyer questions on 4 Nov 2026 (US, web search on).
  • Limits: most survey numbers are self-reported. Company numbers are their own claims, not audits. We say so where it matters.

# Number What it means
34 552 live-intent signals from about 10,700 posts, plus job listings People and companies acting on AI right now
35 223 of the 552 were hiring for an AI or automation role Hiring is the most common sign of intent
36 108 distributors and manufacturers were hiring for AI or automation roles The sector posts little, but it's hiring
37 141 had announced new funding New money often goes to AI
38 97 were building or running AI agents in their own business Many owners are trying it themselves
39 Only 7 of about 10,700 posts were plain "please help me" requests Buyers rarely ask in public. They hire or build
40 For "who can deploy AI agents into my company's operations in 30 days?", 1 of about 12 sources ChatGPT cited was a Microsoft Marketplace listing (4 Nov) Directories and listings feed AI answers

What we take from it

  1. Money isn't the problem. Spend is up 5.4 times. Results are flat.
  2. Setup is the problem. Ownership, data and a starting number explain most of the gap.
  3. People want a yes before agents act. Approval is normal, not a weakness.
  4. Demand for help is loud, but quiet in public. Companies hire for it far more often than they ask for it.
