How a trading company stopped reading 50 Telegram channels by hand

Telegram price monitoring with an AI analyst: how a plastics trading company tracks 50+ channels, saves every price and gets two reports a day. What works, and what's still checked by hand.

Short answer: Telegram price monitoring can be done by an AI analyst that lives in Telegram. It reads the channels you approve, including photos and documents. It saves every price in your own database with a link to the post, and sends reports on a schedule. One plastics trader gets two reports a day this way. Its team still checks prices by hand.

The job nobody wanted

This company trades plastics. Polystyrene, ABS, PPR, pipe grades, polypropylene, film grades.

In this market, prices don't sit in one place. They're spread across more than 50 Telegram channels and groups.

Sellers post them in every shape:

  • as plain text;
  • as price tables;
  • as photos, with the price written under them;
  • as documents.

The official exchange is one source. Seller ads are the rest.

So people read it all by hand. They compared prices by hand. They built reports by hand. For months.

And old prices were hard to find. Once a post scrolled away, it was as good as gone.

What the owner asked for

The owner had a clear picture. To write it down, the owner asked ChatGPT about 70 questions. The result was simple:

  • read the market from 9:00 to 18:00 every day;
  • save every price in an archive;
  • send a dashboard every morning, without being asked.

In the owner's words, translated: "Every day, whether I ask or not, it should study the market. Collect the prices. Archive them. And give me a dashboard in the morning."

That's a clear job. It happens every day. It has a right answer. And it cost people hours. That makes it a good job for an agent.

What we set up

We set up a private AI analyst inside Telegram, where the team already works. Our offer was to launch it in one week.

What it reads: the approved channels. Text, photos and documents.

What it keeps: every price, in the company's own database, on its own server. Each one links back to the post it came from.

What it answers: questions in plain words, right in Telegram.

  • "Latest price for this grade."
  • "Compare these two grades last week."
  • "What changed since yesterday?"

What it sends, on a schedule:

  • a midday PDF market report;
  • an evening dashboard for the boss.

Two kinds of report

The owner wanted two different things, so we built two outputs.

Output What's in it Who it's for
Short brief Lowest and highest price per grade. No seller contacts A quick look, any time
Full dashboard This month vs last month, percent up or down, the fastest movers The boss, in the evening
Detail on request Sellers and links for one grade Whoever asks about that grade

Seller details only show up when someone asks about one grade. That keeps the daily reports short.

The rules it follows

A price tool is only useful if people trust it. So we set firm rules.

  1. It never makes up a value. If a price is missing, it says so.
  2. Exchange results stay apart from seller ads. They're different things, so they're kept apart.
  3. It only reads. It never posts, buys or contacts suppliers.
  4. Each person uses their own account. An admin approves who gets in.

It tracks 183 grades today.

What didn't work at first

We'd rather be honest about this.

The first version wasn't perfect. In one early check, it skipped 12 photo posts. It also covered only some of the grades.

And the team still checks prices by hand. That's the right call. They want to see it be right, day after day, before they stop checking. We'd rather earn that trust than claim it.

How to set up Telegram price monitoring yourself

Whether you work with us or not, these steps help.

  1. List the channels. Only the ones you trust. More isn't better.
  2. List the grades. Write the names you use, and the names sellers use.
  3. Pick your outputs. A short brief, a full dashboard, or both.
  4. Set a schedule. When should reports arrive without anyone asking?
  5. Keep it read-only. The agent reads. People make the deals.
  6. Keep a link to every source. So anyone can check a price in one click.
  7. Check by hand at first. Then less, as it proves itself.

The short version

Fifty channels, read by hand, is a job for a machine. The judgment, the deals and the trust stay with people.

Questions people ask

Can AI monitor prices in Telegram channels?
Yes. An AI analyst can read approved channels and groups, including text, photos and documents. It saves each price with a link to the post, and answers questions in Telegram.
Does the AI post or buy anything?
Not in this setup. It only reads. It never posts, buys or contacts suppliers. People make every deal.
Where is the price data kept?
In the firm's own database, on its own server. Each price keeps a link to the post it came from, so anyone can check it.
What if a price is missing or unclear?
The agent says so. It never makes up a value. Exchange results are kept apart from seller ads.
Can I trust it from day one?
Not fully, and you shouldn't. This team still checks prices by hand while they build trust. Early on, it missed some photo posts.
